Bad Kohlgrub is a pretty little town located in the Alps of south central Germany, it is filled with traditional looking buildings and surrounded by breathtaking views. There are only around 2500 residents as the town is largely geared towards tourists. In the summer months the town is filled with colour as the exquisite flower arrangements planted all around the town blossom. This teamed with the style of building gives the town a quaint, rustic and beautiful charm. In the winter months Bad Kohlgrub becomes a ‘chocolate box’ like scene, with its snow covered buildings it gives off a warm and welcoming feel. The town as a good amount of restaurants and traditional drinking establishments a number of which house a log fire an can offer welcome beverages to warm you through after a day on the snow.
Skiing in Bad Kohlgrub
Bad Kohlgrub is a very small resort with only 4 ski lifts, although it does boast an impressive 550 metres of vertical decent. The resort has 4 pistes with a total length of 2 miles, it is a place best suited for beginner skiers and snowboarders. There is some terrain suitable for intermediate skiers, but expert skiers will have very little interest in this resort. There is also 13 miles of cross country ski trails in Bad Kohlgrub, a lot of the routes are very enjoyable and boast outstanding views.
It can get a bit cold on the 20 minute journey up the mountain but the 3.5km ski run awaits you at the top with an altitude of between 900m and 1400m. There are 2 beautiful valley slopes, a family friendly ski run, an area aimed at free riders and 2 small training lifts suitable for children.Location and Access
The nearest airport is at Munich Franz Josef Strauss and Bad Kohlgrub has its own train station. There are transfers available from the airport to the resort and a regular coach service. As well as this the resort has excellent road links making it easily accessibly to tourists.

Being a predominantly tourist location, accommodation is not difficult to find in Bad Kohlgrub. It does not have a large variety of type of accommodation on offer but does have a large number of hotels and apartments for the size of the town. There are also a few chalets and farm houses as well as a number of B & B’s available, so there is a good degree of choice making finding suitable lodgings for your needs an easy task.
