The concept if hiring a private chef may seem like a luxury afforded only to the rich and famous. Well in London or Paris that may be the case. However in the French Alps this is a concept that is becoming increasingly popular amongst the skiing general public. Hidden away in some of the most beautiful areas of Europe there are talented chefs offering their services at an affordable price to people looking for a catered ski holiday with a difference. Morzine in the Portes du Soleil area of France is one such place where hiring a chef can actually save you money on your catered chalet holiday.


Can I experience a private chef?

In Morzine and neighbouring Les Gets there are a handful of private chef companies and individuals who work on a freelance basis to offer a bespoke catering service to your ski chalet or apartment. They are available to come to your holiday home to prepare and cook your meals for you and they can offer packages to suit your requirements. One of these companies is Chez Toi. How does it work?

The easiest way to book a chef is through their website directly. You will often get the best price and can liaise directly with the chef to let them know your exact requirements. If you are staying in a self catered chalet then another way to go about booking will be to ask your accommodation provider if they can book or recommend a chef for you. Different accommodation providers will tend to be affiliated with different chefs so if you have a specific one in mind then it is best to book directly. The most common packages on offer are those for a full week. Although there will usually be a set menu you can usually make requests for specific dishes and tailor the catering to suit you and your group. The ‘Traditional’ menu is Chez Toi’s most popular package and starts at just 250€ per week for adults and 150€ per week for children.
