my upside down ski accommodation world
We must be the only travel website on the entire Internet which has hundreds of ski accommodation requests waiting for an offer and hardly any apartment-, chalet- or hotel owners registered to quote.
Help me out here please. May be there is something we are doing wrong? After 12 months of running this website, having built all the technology and generated interest and high visitor volumes, my world feels all upside down and I ask myself:
Subscription cost too high?
May be our current subscription rates at £15/year are far too expensive? After all owners only get unlimited system access, unlimited requests and you can publish unlimited last minute offers via our system at this flat rate at no extra cost and no catch.
Should we charge commission?
May be we should do what most sites do on the Internet, generate traffic and charge high commissions on referrals. But hang on a second, does this not increase the cost for ski accommodation and reduces the margins for ski accommodation owners? After all we built this site because we don’t believe in commission based systems. May be we should do what everybody does – follow the crowds.
This is my cry for help. Do you know any ski chalet-, apartment- or hotel owners who believe in our approach. If not let’s all just do the same, browse for accommodation and keep paying commissions to ski travel operators and advertising websites.
My friend has bought a ski chalet in Poland and needs a new log burner!?
My friend has bought a ski chalet in Poland and needs a new log burner. Does anyone know of any brands or companies that make or sell log burners in Poland? For being able to stay there for a week I have said I would install it. Any help would be much appreciated.
We are thinking about staying in go-montgenevre chalet ski-ing jan 2010?
We are a group of 6 adults all intermediate skiers with own equipment. We were looking for something different but we have fussy eaters. We have two people who are gluten free and one who likes a variety to choose from so are worried about catered chalets and the lack of choice. However this looks a good quality chalet.
Has anyone stayed are there baths in each en-suit? We are looking at the large chalet for up to 12 people. Ski in and out.
Free wine with meal.
Also want to get over to the Milky Way area as this seems vast so need to know the cost involved.
thanks
ski accommodation comes in all shapes and sizes
A wide range of ski accommodation is available in all ski resorts. In most cases you have the option of B&B, half board, full board, or all inclusive stay from zero star to five star deluxe services.
Fairly basic ski accommodation is the norm offered by most winter holiday tour operators in mid-range resorts in the Alps. Basic accommodation is great for groups, school ski trips or your first budget ski holidays. Many hotels in the Alps are often very simple with good access to the slopes but very few add extra services. Expect an ensuite shower-room but no bath for example, or a small breakfast buffet and evening group menu with free cheap wine, but no evening restaurant dining or bar for aperitifs. If you are a budget skier who just wants to spend all day on piste, and happy with a simple local supper, then a basic ski hotel, apartment of B&B is ideal.
Popular variations on the more budget accommodation include Chalet Hotels (chalet style hotels) potentially with a private chef and ApartHotels, which are apartment complexes with optional hotel facilities and services. A good way to get the best of both worlds with hotel style services in chalet style accommodation.
The trend is increasingly towards newer more luxury ski accommodation with pools, spas, nurseries, fine winelists and even Michelin-starred restaurants. Luxury resorts such as Val D’Isere, Courchevel, Zermatt and St. Moritz now offer some of the world’s best hotels with superb facilities, décor, staff and service. And depending on your where you go to ski, you can find small mega-luxe boutique hotels with just a dozen stunningly decadent rooms, or giant super-complexes with hundreds 0f rooms, dozens of restaurants and other facilities.
Ski accommodation comes in all shape and sizes. Take your pick!

Can anyone recommend any cheap accommodation for ski/snowboarding in Mammoth, CA?
Hi,
I’m hoping to go snowboarding in Mammoth, California with my boyfriend towards the end of March and I’m struggling to find a reasonably priced accommodation near to the resort.
Any ideas/recommendations or website links would be greatly received.
Many thanks
