A superbly equipped and very beautiful resort in the French Alps, La Rosiere stands 1850m above sea level in some of the most picturesque and impressive scenery you could imagine and offers a great deal more than many similar resorts. From the choice of accommodation to the superb slopes through to the many other sporting and leisure attractions you can find in the region La Rosiere – close to the Italian border – is popular with everyone from the expert looking to tackle the more challenging slopes through to the family with a novice in tow.
Skiing in La Rosiere
In the shadow of the magnificent Mont Blanc, this is a resort that can claim some of the most impressive skiing conditions in all of Europe. The 150km of quality slopes are split between the resort itself and the twin Italian resort of La Thuile, and the combination of north and south facing slopes makes for a choice of sunny skiing or excellent seasonal snow coverage.
La Rosiere can offer everything from world class standard pistes to easy nursery slopes for beginners, and the additional attraction of many winter sports – from snowboarding to paragliding – means that there is something here for everyone. Furthermore, the evening entertainment offered by the choice of excellent bars and restaurants is varied and can cater for families and couples alike. The prime region that straddles the French-Italian border here is one of the most prized in Europe.
Location and Access
Being in such a prime spot La Rosiere is surprisingly easily accessible and there are excellent road links and railway connections in the region that take you to nearby towns, cities and picturesque villages. The nearest airport is at Geneva – the resort is close to the Swiss border too – and travelling time is reasonable as should be expected with such a popular resort.
Accommodation
La Rosiere, like all such popular resorts, offers a great deal of variety when it comes to accommodation with everything from simple gust houses to luxury hotels and apartments. All hotels are close to the many ski lifts that service the resort and within the region are a number of small towns that offer excellent choices of hotels and apartments. This may not be the cheapest of resorts thanks to the excellent skiing and close proximity to both Italy and Switzerland, but there are many different options.
