Why Ski Nendaz?

A beautifully typical mountain village. Nendaz has an idyllic setting and wonderfully picturesque landscape, and is even home to its own glacier.  It is one of only 7 resorts to have achieved a five start rating.

Nendaz has plenty to choose from for your evening entertainment, with choice ranging from live music and piano bars to  more reserved relaxing cafes. Restaurants are of a wide variety including Italian, Mexican and French and of course local cuisine.  There are 5 mountain restaurants and even one of Michelin Star quality. Activities on offer include  ice skating on the outdoor rink, ice hockey and even ice climbing. Paragliding for the brave among us and even squash if you fancy a change from the winter sports. There are numerous winter walks available and 6 snowshoe trails to explore. Nendaz also has facilities for children including a nursery, arts and crafts, a games library, tobogganing and an ice disco which won the resort a ‘family friendly’ award.

Skiing in Nendaz

Nendaz is part of the four valleys ski area and sits at an altitude of 1350m. Nendaz itself has 70km of downhill pistes served by 20 ski lifts with the capacity to transport 25,000 people per hour. The highest lift reaches 3300m and as there are pistes above 2500m, skiing and snowboarding is guaranteed throughout the season. For the lower altitude runs, Nendaz has 22 snow cannons able to augment natural snow.  Nendaz is particularly good for beginners with the gentle nursery slopes and excellent for intermediate skiers with a large variety of runs and 11km of cross country trails. Advanced abilities may have to seek challenges further a field on the many off piste terrains in the linked resorts. The four valleys area has in total 205 individual pistes and over 400km of downhill skiing available. Ski passes can be purchased to allow access to all the resorts which make up this exhaustive array of ski runs.  Snowboarding is particularly popular here with the wide slopes and snow parks.

Location and Access

Geneva is the main Airport to use when flying to Nendaz and is served by airlines from many UK destinations. It is just under 2 hours transfer time by road. The more convenient method is by train which runs straight from Geneva airport to Sion. Journey time is 1 hr 50 and the bonus is the spectacular sight of lake Geneva on route. Rail travel from Paris is approximately 5 hours and 9 hours straight from London St Pancreas. Sion is a much smaller airport so flights are much less frequent but it is only 20 minutes from the resort. The A9 motorway is the main road link to Nendaz.

There is countless choice though, from humble hotel rooms to luxurious Chalets sleeping more than 10 guests. All offer superb locations and with spa facilities, breath taking views and warm welcoming surroundings , your are guaranteed to find your ideal  retreat.

A pass for the four valleys for an adult starts from as little as 54 Swiss francs. This is only for a limited period so price depends on your individual requirements but there are a range of deals and special offers available. A typical 3 star apartment will cost from approximately 442 Swiss francs for a weeks stay.
